Leeds Ahead has a business that has offered to run employability skills sessions in September covering a number of topics including job search, applications and interview techniques. The sessions will be ideal for mature jobseekers who have a wealth of life skills that are easily transferrable, and in particular those looking to start work within the care sector. Individuals can sign up for one or all of the sessions, and work experience opportunities may also be able.
?
The sessions will be run from 1.30pm until 3.30pm at 1 Park Row, Leeds on the following dates:
?
Tuesday 4 September
An employability workshop helping people with job search ? ie identifying where to find jobs?eg websites/agencies/networking/newspapers. This is often the hardest part for people if they?ve either been working for one organisation for many years or even if they?ve been out work for a while, they either don?t know where to start looking for jobs or aren?t up to date with where jobs are available (eg Linkedin).
?
Tuesday 11 September
An employability workshop on how to apply for a job ? whether it is by CV,?covering letter and/or application (including on-line). The session will help people identify their transferrable skills and how valuable these could be to potential employers, helping them build confidence in ?selling? themselves as part of an application.
?
Tuesday 18 September
An employability workshop? focusing on interview skills and techniques. If it?s been a while since someone?s had an interview, they may not appreciate the way interviews are now conducted, they may not be familiar with competency based interviews and may struggle to provide good examples.
?
Tuesday 25 September?
An employability workshop? focusing on confidence building ie what to expect in the workplace, transferable skills, potentially looking at IT?and ?new ways? of working.
?
Please let me know if you have anyone who is interested in attending the sessions.
